Tracking competitors

Pick the Shopify apps worth watching, add them to PartnerLens, and read the benchmark — rank, rating, pricing, and listing edits next to your own.

Competitor benchmarking is the difference between knowing your app got harder to sell and knowing why. PartnerLens tracks the apps you choose right alongside yours, so a drop in your rank or a flood of feature requests has context.

Add a competitor

  1. Open the Competitors section of your dashboard.
  2. Search by app name or browse a category. PartnerLens already indexes 12,000+ Shopify apps, so most listings are one search away.
  3. Add the apps you want to watch. Tracking starts immediately on public data — rank, rating, review count, pricing, and listing changes.

The free tier tracks one app; Pro ($15/mo) expands how many competitors you can follow. The exact limits are on the pricing page.

Who's worth tracking

A few that usually pay off:

  • The two or three apps that show up next to yours in category search — these are who merchants actually compare you against.
  • The category leader, even if you don't compete head-on, because their pricing and listing moves set merchant expectations.
  • Any app that recently launched or repriced in your space — that's exactly the kind of change you want an alert on.

You don't need to track everyone. A tight list of direct rivals produces a sharper benchmark than a long list of loosely related apps.

Reading the benchmark

Once apps are added, the Competitors view puts them side by side with yours:

  • Rank per category, over time, so you can see who's gaining or slipping.
  • Rating and review count, and how fast each is accumulating reviews.
  • Pricing, with edits flagged when a competitor changes their plans.
  • Listing changes — title, description, and media edits, so you notice repositioning early.

For the review side, PartnerLens applies the same AI review intelligence to competitors that it does to your app: the theme clusters surface what merchants praise and complain about elsewhere — often the clearest roadmap signal you'll get.

Get notified instead of refreshing

Turn on competitor alerts in Settings → Alerts to be notified by email, Slack, or Discord when a tracked app changes pricing, edits its listing, or a new app launches in your category. See the Quickstart for the full alert setup.
