Connecting the Shopify Partner API

Connect your Shopify Partner account to pull installs, MRR, revenue, and churn into PartnerLens — alongside the rank and review data you already track.

Rank and review tracking work the moment you add an app — they come from public App Store data. To see your private numbers (installs, uninstalls, gross/net revenue, MRR, and churn), connect your Shopify Partner API token. PartnerLens reads only your own aggregate Partner data; it never accesses merchant stores or individual orders.

What you get once it's connected

  • Installs and uninstalls over time, so you can line up acquisition against your rank.
  • Gross and net revenue and MRR, pulled directly rather than copied out of the Partner Dashboard.
  • Churn, so a sudden MRR dip has an explanation instead of a question mark.

These numbers sit next to your rank and review trends, which is the whole point: when MRR moves, you can see whether rank, a pricing change, or a wave of reviews moved with it.

Where to get your token

You generate the credential inside your Shopify Partner Dashboard, not in PartnerLens:

  1. Sign in to your Shopify Partner account.
  2. Open the API / access section of your Partner settings and create a Partner API client (this gives you an organization ID and an access token).
  3. Copy the token — treat it like a password.

Shopify's own Partner API documentation has the current, detailed steps for creating the credential; follow that for the exact screen names, since Shopify updates its dashboard periodically.

Add it to PartnerLens

  1. In your dashboard, open Settings → Integrations.
  2. Find the Shopify Partner API connection and paste your organization ID and access token.
  3. Save. PartnerLens validates the token and begins importing your aggregate metrics.

The token is stored encrypted and is only used to read your aggregate Partner metrics. You can disconnect it at any time from the same screen, which stops all further syncing.

Troubleshooting

  • "Invalid token" — double-check you copied the full token and the matching organization ID, and that the API client hasn't been revoked in your Partner Dashboard.
  • Numbers look empty — a brand-new connection can take a little while for the first import to complete; give it some time, then refresh.
